Three years ago today, almost to the minute, I got that first phone call. The initial shock was brief…and then the adrenalin and instinct kicked in. Over the next hour a series of calls came in with updates as they struggled to try and save their lives. It seemed like hours but each call was only moments apart. Then came the last call and at that moment, the shock set in for all of us…the world as I knew it was a different place.
I re-live that hour of my life often. These two men were key links in one of the strongest chains I have ever been a part of…a true band of brothers existed among us all, which became even more apparent in the wake of the shooting. I miss them both, Chuck and Mike, our fallen brothers.
